About Us

St.Vincent de Paul Conference, Sakthikulangara (SVDPS) is a non-profit, charitable organization, an arm of the global St.Vincent de Paul Society founded in the St.John de Britto parish in our Lord’s year 1965, established for carrying out goals set out without differenciating caste, creed, or colour. The organization involves in social, charitable, religious, educational and cultural activities.

SVDPS officially came into existance with a 6 member team (listed below) on board as its founding members, all of them known for their philanthropic mind set and down to earth life style.

Unsurprisingly, their mantle was taken over by the children of all five of them in the present generation.

Our Mission

Financial aid to terminally ill people- Renal ailments, Cardiac patients adjudging the merit case by case- looking into seriousness of the ailment, expenses incurred, the social and financial background of the vicitim.
Family visits of bedridden patients, offering assistance in needy cases.
Plan and execute projects to make the lives of our septuagenarians and octogenarians populace in our society, more comfortable and hassle free In this connection, we plan for a meeting center for them (day center) to come and spend their day time, communicating and interacting with peer groups and exchange ideas and vision.
Senior citizens are cared for, reckoning their active service to the society in the past and the trove of life experiences they pass on to the next generation.

Our Future plans

Sakthikulangara is a fishing village in the first place, and a majority of its current population are septuagenarians or octogenarians. There is an acute dearth of medical facilities in this parish area. This includes clinics, medical laboratories etc.. Establishing a clinical laboratory where one could get medical tests done and obtain reliable results is one of the projects SVDPS contemplates to establish. The SVDPS Sakthikulangara envisages to develop this facility in the future to a clinic with consulting and out-patients facility.

In the modern self centered society, the older generation in general do not get enough attention or care that they deserve and need at home. Majority of them live an isolated solitary life without complaints or choice. SVDPS contemplates to alleviate their boredom and isolation by establishing a day center (pakal veedu) where those of them isolated at home could assemble, exchange ideas and experiences, and spend time comfortably till evening.

Education is commercialized in this age and there are parents who can’t afford to the huge expenses incurred in sending their kids to private schools of repute. SVDPS Sakthikulangara is contemplating a project to start a primary school and run the same with appreciable quality and standard.
